ABOUT US

It all started in 1965 when radio announcer and “comedian” Holmes “Daddy-O” Daylie organized the SKI FUN League, today called the Sno-Gophers Ski Club, to provide opportunities for skiing enthusiasts who wanted to ski regularly and at minimum cost.

The Sno-Gophers Ski Club is the third oldest Black Ski Club in the United States. And one of the founding members of the National Brotherhood of Skiers (NBS), proudly boasting as one of its members Mr. Art Clay, one of the two founding members of the NBS.  The NBS and the Sno-Gophers Ski Club continue to be dedicated to promoting the sport of skiing within the African-American community.

The Sno-Gophers have also traveled all over North America and Europe, and because of our club’s extensive skiing program, along with the high levels of skiing proficiency of its members, the Sno-Gophers Ski Club is recognized as one of our nation’s leading ski organizations.
